Lenovo-backed Motorola is gearing up for the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 next month. The company is expected to launch the G5 and G5 Plus smartphones. Now, a new Motorola smartphone has been spotted on the benchmarking website Geekbench. The smartphone bears the model number XT1650 which is the same as the Moto Z smartphone and is expected to be the Moto Z (2017). The highlight as seen in the Geekbench listing is that the Moto XT1650 is powered by Qualcomm s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset. As spotted by AndriodPure, the Geekbench listing reveals a few specifications of the Moto XT1650 smartphone. Along with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM. On the software front, the Moto XT1650 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. With these specifications, the Moto XT1650 gets a single-core score of 1,930 on Geekbench. As for the multi-core score, the smartphone achieves a total of 6,207. The scores are slightly higher as compared to the expected Xiaomi MIX Evo with the same chipset. The MIX Evo had achieved a single-core score of 1,918 and a multi-core score of 5,689. If the Moto XT1650 turns out to be the Moto Z (2017), then it would join growing list of smartphones with Qualcomm s Snapdragon 835 chipset this year.
While there is no confirmation on whether this could be the Moto Z (2017) or a different Motorola smartphone, the former is expected to come with modular functionality. As AndroidHeadlines reports, Motorola has confirmed that the second generation Moto Z smartphone would also have modular functionality, meaning that the currently available Moto Mods would be compatible with the Moto Z (2017).
In comparison to the Moto Z, which was launched in the third quarter of 2016, the 2017 version shows improvement in the chipset. The Moto Z is powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The Moto Z also comes with 4GB RAM as seen in its alleged successor. With more development in the future, the Moto Z (2017) could come with 6GB of RAM which is currently becoming the trend with smartphones. The alleged Moto Z (2017) although, shown to come with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, its predecessor already runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.
As for the rest of the specifications, the Moto Z features a 5.5-inch Quad HD display. The Moto Z comes with 64GB onboard storage which is further expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card. In the camera department, the Moto Z sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash, optical image stabilization (OIS), 4K video recording at 30fps and full HD video recording at 60fps. Up front, the smartphone houses a 5-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling. For power, the smartphone uses a 2,600mAh battery along with Turbo Charging support which is claimed to offer talktime of up to eight hours with just 15 minutes of charging. The Moto Z is currently priced at Rs 39,999 with the Moto Mods starting at a price of Rs 5,999 onwards.
