State-run telecom giant MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited) has just announced a new offer for its users. As per the new offer, MTNL will offer its users up to 120GB data for free in an attempt to counter the plans that private players are offering. According to a report by Telecomtalk, the company has rolled out a new offer where it is giving a free MTNL 3G SIM to all its existing and new broadband customer. The customers need to have a subscription of more than Rs 600 as the monthly tariff to be eligible to receive the free SIM.
As part of the plan known as “Broadband-GSM Companion Scheme”, the users will get 5GB per month with five years of validity. According to the report, users with a monthly broadband plan between Rs 600 and Rs 799 will get 5GB free data per month on the SIM for a year and users with a monthly plan of more than Rs 800 will get 10GB data free on the SIM for a year. Once the users cross the free data limit, they will have to charge 3 paise per 10KB. However, MTNL will apply charges on calls and SMS that users will make or sent according to the planned tariffs.

According to the company, users as part of “My Group” will be charged 1 paise per 12 seconds and 10 paise per SMS for all the calls made and SMS sent within the group. MTNL will charge users 10 paise per SMS and calls for Rs 1 per number.
Calls to mobile numbers both local and STD will be charged at 1 paise per second, and landline calls will be charged 2 paise per second while users will have to pay 50 paise per SMS for all the messages sent to local numbers and Rs 1 per SMS for text sent to STD numbers. Users will need to pay Rs 5 for every SMS that they send to ISD numbers. Users can recharge the SIM with any other prepaid plans to opt for an offer for additional benefits.
