The popularity of Jio’s preview offer has helped the company amass a user base of over 2 million, which has not gone unnoticed by rival network operators. While we await an official announcement, Jio’s tariff plans are expected to set new standards, and already ripples are being felt in the industry. The likes of Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular have already slashed data tariffs by up to 67 percent. Recently, Airtel also started offering unlimited voice calls on some of its postpaid plans. Jio’s official entry will surely start a tariff war, but in the end, it will be us users who will reap the most benefits.
