Ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018), Alcatel took the wraps off a bunch of products. The company added five new smartphones and two tablets to its portfolio. As The Verge reports, all of the five smartphones, namely Alcatel 5, Alcatel 3, Alcatel 3X, Alcatel 3V, and Alcatel 1X are priced under 230 euros (approximately Rs 18,300). Interestingly, one of the variants of the Alcatel 1X comes with Android Go – Google’s optimized OS for low-end hardware. Here’s an overview of all the devices. The Alcatel 5 is said to be the most expensive phone from the company’s lineup at the MQWC 2018. It is priced at 229.99 euros (approximately Rs 18,300). It includes a 5.7-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and HD+ (1440x720p) resolution.
Under the hood, the smartphone packs MediaTek MTK6750 octa-core SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. For optics, there’s a single 12-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash. According to the company, the rear camera can be interpolated to capture 16-megapixel images. Up front, there’s a dual-camera setup with a combination of 13-megapixel+5-megapixel sensors which is complemented with a front flash. The interpolation works for the front camera as well, Neowin reports.
Other features includes a rear fingerprint sensor, Face Key facial recognition, and Type-C with support for fast charging. The smartphone runs Android Nougat out-of-the-box and will be available starting this month in color choices of Metallic Black and Metallic Gold.
Alcatel 3, 3X, and 3V
Alcatel 3 is equipped with a 5.5-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio delivering HD+ resolution. Under the hood, MediaTek MT6739 quad-core SoC paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It runs Android Oreo out-of-the-box.
For optics, there’s a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. Other features include Android Oreo out-of-the-box, fingerprint sensor, facial recognition, and microUSB. The Alcatel 3 will be available starting March at a price of 149.99 euros (approximately Rs 11,900). It will be available in color choices of Spectrum Black, Blue, and Gold.
Alcatel 3X features a 5.7-inch 18:9 display with HD+ resolution. It is powered by the same processor as the Alcatel 3 with 3Gb of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. For optics, there’s a dual-camera setup including a combination of 12-megapixel+ 5-megapixel cameras at the back. Up front, there’s a 5-megapixel sensor.
Other features include Android Nougat out-of-the-box, rear fingerprint sensor, and facial recognition. The Alcatel 3X will be available starting April at a price of 179.99 euros (approximately Rs 14,300) in color choices of Metallic Black, Blue, and Gold.
Lastly, the Alcatel 3V is equipped with a 6-inch 18:9 aspect ratio IPS 2.5D curved display that packs a 2K (2160 x 1080) screen resolution. Under the hood, MediaTek MT8735A quad-core SoC paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
For optics, there is a dual-camera setup with a combination of 12-megapixel+2-megapixel sensors at the back. Up front, there’s a 5-megapixel sensor. Other features include Android Oreo out-of-the-box, rear fingerprint sensor, and Face Key facial recognition. It is priced at 189.99 euros (approximately Rs 15,200) and available in color choices of Spectrum Black, Blue, and Gold.
The Alcatel 1X is the company’s first Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone. It is also the most affordable from the lineup today. It is equipped with a 5.3-inch 18:9 display. Under the hood, there’s a quad-core processor packed with up to 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
Based on variants, there is either an 8-megapixel or 13-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front camera. With Android Go, the low-end smartphone comes with Google’s new suite of pre-installed apps including Google Go, Files Go, Google Maps Go, YouTube Go, and Gmail Go. It also includes Google Assistant for Android Go.
The Alcatel 1X will be available starting April at a price of 99.99 euros (approximately Rs 7,900) in three color choices of Black, Blue, and Gold. There’s also a 3G variant in the series called Alcatel 1C, which will be priced at 89.99 euros (approximately Rs 7,200) in color choices of Metal Black, Blue, and Gold.
Alcatel 1T 7 and 1T 10 tablets
The Alcatel 1T 7 and Alcatel 1T 10 tablets are one the affordable tablets running Android 8.1 Oreo. The 1T 7 is a 7-inch tablet with 1,024 x 600p IPS display while the 1T 10 features a 10-inch 1,280 x 800p IPS display.
Both the low-end tablets run quad-core MediaTek MT8321 processors with 1GB of RAM and 8GB/16GB of internal storage. The 7-inch model includes 2,580mAh battery which is claimed to last up to 7 hours while the 10-inch model comes with a 4,000mAh battery which is said to last for up to 8 hours of use. The Alcatel 1T 7 is priced at $70 (approximately Rs 5,600) while the 1T 10 costs $100 (approximately Rs 7,900).
