We’re less than a month away from MWC 2018, the annual tech expo that takes place in Barcelona. Smartphone makers such as Nokia, Samsung, Sony and LG have already confirmed their presence, and now Asus has also sent out press invites for a product launch event. The event is set to take place on February 27 at 7:30PM CET (12AM IST on February 28), and it will also be live streamed on the company s website. The invite features an image with the number 5 painted in color, a hashtag #BackTo5 and tagline We love photo at the bottom, something that was used for Zenfone 4-series as well. If we have to decipher from the invite, the company looks all set to launch its Zenfone 5-series smartphones at the event. The image also has Snapdragon branding along with Asus which could be a hint that the new smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm chipsets. Last week, an Asus smartphone bearing model number ASUS_X00QD was certified by Wi-Fi Alliance with dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac support. The smartphone is expected to be the Zenfone 5 Max running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

Another smartphone with model number ZC600KL was certified in Russia, and it is likely to flaunt a 6-inch 18:9 display along with Snapdragon SoC under the hood. There are some reports suggesting that this smartphone could be called Zenfone 5 Lite.

If rumors are to be believed, Asus could be launching more than one smartphone under the Zenfone 5-series, something that it has been doing with the Zenfone 3 and Zenfone 4 line-up. And to catch up with the current trends, all smartphones could come with 18:9 displays, along with dual camera setup. While other details about the Zenfone 5 series smartphones are scarce at the moment, more leaks are expected to surface in the coming weeks, ahead of the MWC 2018 launch.
