Sony’s event today is scheduled for 8.30AM CET (1:00PM IST). The launch event will be live streamed on Sony’s blog, and you will also be able to follow the updates via the official social media channels.
Based on all the rumors we have come across so far, Sony is expected to launch at least three smartphones – Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Compact, and Xperia XZ2 Pro. These smartphones will mark a shift away from the Omnibalance design language, and are rumored to feature 18:9 displays. They will also be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 chipsets.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 is expected to come with a 5.7-inch 18:9 display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage, and 3,180mAh battery with wireless charging capabilities. For photography, the smartphone is said to be equipped with a 19-megapixel rear camera. Some reports however hint at a dual-camera setup.
The Xperia XZ2 Compact, on the other hand, is said to feature a 5.5-inch display, and a slightly smaller 2,870mAh battery. The rest of the specifications and features are expected to remain the same.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro is widely expected to be the showstopper for Sony. The smartphone is rumored to come with an 18:9 OLED display with 4K (3840×1920 pixels) resolution. Apart from the Snapdragon 845 SoC, it is also expected to come with 6GB RAM, and 128GB storage. Sony is also expected to include dual rear cameras (12-megapixel sensors) at the back, and a 15-megapixel selfie camera.
