The Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018) is picking pace, and we finally have one of the first interesting announcements of the day. Huawei launched its Matebook X Pro which is said to be the world’s first FullView touchscreen notebook. At the ongoing event, Huawei also launched the MediaPad M5 tablet in two sizes.
Huawei Matebook X Pro
The Huawei Matebook X Pro comes with a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio. It is equipped with a 13.9-inch 3K display and features a spill-proof keyboard. The notebook comes in a metal unibody design with a sandblast finish.
For audio, there are quad speakers on the notebook allowing clear treble and rich bass. Given the edge-to-edge display, the camera has been intelligently integrated into the keyboard of the notebook. Under the hood, up to 8th gen Intel Core i7 processor. The notebook is powered by Windows 10.
There’s a 2-in-1 power button with a fingerprint sensor which is claimed to take the device from sleep to awake in 1.9 seconds. In terms of connectivity, the Matebook X Pro includes one USB-A port, 2 USB-C ports, and a standard headphone jack. The device further allows wireless transfer across Huawei devices.
In terms of pricing, the Matebook X Pro with i8/8GB/256GB configuration is priced at €1499 (approximately Rs 119,300). The i7/8GB/512GB configuration model is priced at €1699 (approximately Rs 135,200), and the i7/16GB/512GB configuration model is priced at €1899 euros (approximately Rs 151,000). It will be available this month in China, US, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Spain, Italy and Nordic.

MediaPad M5 comes in two sizes of 10.8-inch display and 8.4-inch Vivid Display with 82 percent screen-to-body ratio. The tablets feature curved edge 2.5D glass on the front for protection and boast metal unibody design.
For comfortable use, the Huawei MediaPad M5 comes with an eye-comfort mode. The tablet includes Harman Kardon-powered audio support through quad speakers. As for battery, the tablet is said to come with Quick Charge support that’s capable of charging the device in 1.9 hours for all-day usage.
Under the hood, the base model with 8.4-inch display, runs the Kirin 960 octa-core SoC is paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB of internal storage. For photography, there’s a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and an 8-megapixel fixed focus front camera. It is fueled by 5,100mAh battery. The 10.8-inch model is fueled by a 7,500mAh battery with fast charging.
The Huawei MediaPad M5 Pro, on the other hand, comes with M-Pen support. The stylus allows 4096-level pressure sensitivity and allows you to use the tablet like a hybrid notebook with much ease. With the same chipset as the other models, it packs 4GB of RAM with 64GB/128GB of internal storage.
In terms of pricing, the MediaPad M5 base model with Wi-Fi is priced at €349 euros onwards (approximately Rs 28,000). The LTE variant starts at €399 (approximately Rs 32,000). The MediaPad M5 with 10.8-inch display starts at €399 for Wi-Fi only model and €449 for the LTE version (approximately Rs 35,800). The Pro model costs start at €499 for Wi-Fi only model and €549 euros (approximately Rs 43,700) for LTE version.
