HMD Global, the new home of Nokia phones, is set to announce its next lineup of smartphones and feature phones at MWC 2018. The Finnish company made its big debut at MWC last year, and it is now time for act II, where it can’t just rely on nostalgia to drive the narrative of its products.
Despite being a newcomer, HMD Global showed that it can make good products with the expertise of Nokia folks last year. It also managed to reap benefits of that product positioning with the company capturing one percent market share in the competitive smartphone market at the end of fourth quarter of 2018. It has done one thing better than most of its competitors seeding the latest version of Android operating system to its device. This year, at MWC, HMD Global must show what all technology improvements it can bring to the table since it is easy to make Android phones for anyone with money under the belt.
At MWC 2018, HMD Global executives are expected to talk about their first year as a mobile brand and might shed some light on its achievements in the past year. The company will most likely announce the Nokia 1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Pro/Nokia 9, Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 3310 4G at the event. Follow along for the latest updates from HMD Global’s MWC event.
