As we head towards the anticipated September launch of Apple’s next iPhone launch the iPhone 8 leaks continue to emerge. Although it’s not entirely surprising, latest leaks show an iPhone without the typical Home button. The leak shared by Onleaks, corroborates several past reports, including a glass back and a vertical dual-camera design, among other things. In addition, what we learn from the purported iPhone 8 leak is the dramatically reduced bezels, and an edge-to-edge display. At the top of the screen is a cutout for the front-facing camera, speaker, and sensors. Besides that, the smartphone looks all screen, without a Home button, which hints that the TouchID could well be placed under the display.
At the rear of the device, the leaked images reveal a vertical dual-camera design for the iPhone 8, which could possibly allow for more advanced AR features. This particular leak is something we have come across earlier as well. However, similar to the form factor of the current iPhones, this dummy too shows the infamous camera bump. A recent video compared the purported iPhone 8 with the current iPhone 7 Plus. The video showed the phone without a physical home button or rear Touch ID, a vertical dual camera setup on the rear panel, and extremely slim bezels. The comparison also indicates that the dimensions of the iPhone 8 would be somewhere between the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
While each new leak hints at a fingerprint sensor beneath the screen, it’s worth noting that Apple has been reportedly facing hurdles with the display embedded sensor. It’s speculated that this could also lead to Apple pushing the launch of the iPhone.
The device is expected to be announced sometime in September or early October. But if the issues continue to persist, the sale and shipment of devices would likely not commence till much later in the year. The iPhone 8 being the 10th anniversary special phone has a whole lot of expectations and Apple is anticipating high demand for the device.
