Visiting heavy websites can be annoying if you re working with slow internet. The question if the webpage will ever load completely or not can alone be very frustrating. The task can be even more worrying if you re operating on a limited data plan. To help users deal with both those problems, Google is planning to introduce a new feature on Chrome that will alert users, when they open a heavy-data website on their device.

According to XDA Developers, the feature is currently available for developers in Chrome Canary and might roll out to Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS, and Android soon. The new feature can allow you to restrain from webpages that require more than 1MB data. After setting up the feature, Chrome will display a notification stating that the website is too heavy and will further give you an option to stop loading.

It can t be said with certainty that Google will in fact bring this feature to Chrome. Because it s still in the testing phase, it could also be possible that Google could roll it out with more capabilities. For example, it could have the ability to automatically cut off a website, if it exceeds a certain data limit set for it by the user. Done right, it could be great feature for people who use limited data plans.
