Huawei-owned Honor could launch its Honor 9i (2018) smartphone in India next month, although it is likely to change the phone’s name to Honor 9X if it does go ahead with the launch. A report by 91Mobiles suggests that the mid-range phone is set for launch some time in July. The phone is similar to the Honor 9i launched last year, but features one big change: a notched screen. The change in name is likely to avoid confusion with the existing Honor 9i smartphone, which was launched in India back in October 2017 and is still available to purchase. That phone features a dual-camera setup at both the front and back, and was launched at Rs 17,999, although it is currently sold at Rs 16,999 on Flipkart. Considering that the Honor 9i has been successful for the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, the name change will allow the company to continue to sell the 9i while also having the new phone on sale.
