The next generation of Apple’s iPhone, due for launch in September, will be thinner and lighter than the current one, according to a report in WSJ. Quoting component suppliers in Taiwan, the report claims that the next iPhone is more complicated to assemble, owing to its thinness. Apple has targeted to get about 25 million iPhone 5 (if that is what it will be called) by the end of the year, which could potentially signal a widespread launch (global?) rather than Apple’s usual practice of a staggered launch. (The iPhone 4 was only recently launched in India, almost a year after its launch in the US.) The report also reiterates the presence of an 8.0 megapixel camera on the next gen iPhone. Apple is almost certain to launch a new iPhone in September along with public availability of its new operating system, iOS 5. It is speculated that the event could also see the launch of a new iPad with a better display.
