It appears that the 2012 model Nexus 7 tablet has seen a massive price cut in India and now is available for a starting price of Rs 9,999 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model via online retailer FlipKart. The retailer is also offering the 32GB Wi-Fi model for Rs 13,499 and the 32GB 3G model for Rs 16,999. Google itself has not reflected the new pricing on the Google Play store, so this price is exclusive to FlipKart. Most probably, Asus, the manufacturer of the tablet is attempting to clear of stocks, so that it can make way for the 2013 iteration of the Nexus 7. The new model features a full-HD screen, a faster Snapdragon S4 CPU, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a more premium design.
At this new pricing, the Nexus 7 is a steal considering it runs stock Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and is still plenty powerful with the Tegra 3 CPU and its 1280×800 pixels 7-inch screen.
Of late, we have seen Google dropping the price of the Nexus 4 smartphone in the UK and discontinue the device in the US. This time around, it appears the move is coming from Asus, rather than Google, but it does hint that the new Nexus tablet might be coming to India soon.
