Nikon may launch 2 full-frame mirrorless cameras this year

Nikon is likely to add a 5-axis in-body stabilization with 9fps capability in the burst mode in both the cameras.

Nikon may be planning to launch two full-frame mirrorless cameras later this year to give Sony and Canon a competition. According to Nikon Rumors, the company is likely to launch both the models at the end of the month around July 23. The cameras will start shipping a month later around August 23. The report goes on to add that one of the two mirrorless cameras is expected to come with a 24-25-megapixel sensor, while the second will come with 45 or 48-megapixel sensor. It assumes that both these cameras will be full-frame instead of a crop frame. Also Read - PS5 player forced to sell his new console as wife discovers it is not an air purifier

Both the cameras are expected to come in a similar body size to that of a Sony A7 along with improved ergonomics and grip. Nikon is likely to add a 5-axis in-body stabilization with 9fps capability in the burst mode. It is likely that the cameras will come with a new 55mm mirrorless mount. This is different from the Z-mount what comes with a 49mm mount. According to the report, it is likely that this new mount will support lenses with f/0.95 apertures. The upcoming cameras will come with support for XQD and CF Express memory cards along with an electronic viewfinder that packs a 3.6-megapixel resolution. The report noted that it was unclear if 3.6 referred to the megapixel resolution of million dots. The company is planning to launch lenses with focal lengths of 24-70mm, 35mm f/1.4, and 50mm f/1.4 at launch with 24mm coming later.

The company is planning to sell the 25-megapixel model along with a lens for under $3,000 (approximately Rs 206,800), and the 45-megapixel model along with a 24-70mm lens for about $4,000 (approximately Rs 275,700). Nikon has not issued any official statement in response to this report and no other information is available about the upcoming cameras. However, if the company needs to take on Sony then it needs to ensure that the cameras will come with some standout features that can pull the customers to choose a Nikon over Sony.
