HMD Global is all set to launch another Nokia smartphone in India as early as next week. The company initially put up teasers on social media, which gave rise to reports about a possible Nokia gaming smartphone. The tweet though has since been taken down, and a teaser page on Flipkart has revealed a bit about the upcoming device.

The smartphone launching in India next week is essentially the Nokia 5.1 Plus. Last month, HMD Global had announced the Nokia 5.1 Plus in India, but without an official price tag. On September 24 at 2:00PM, the price of the smartphone will be revealed, and it will then go on sale exclusively via Flipkart. The device’s price tag in India is expected to be in the sub-Rs 15,000 range.

Nokia 5.1 Plus specifications, features

The Nokia 5.1 Plus was unveiled alongside the Nokia 6.1 Plus last month. Both feature a full-screen notched display, and a glass covered body. The Nokia 5.1 Plus features a plastic frame enforced with metal sandwiched between the glass panels, and a nanocoating.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Nokia 5.1 Plus sports a 5.8-inch HD+ (1520×720 pixels) display with 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset paired with Mali-G72 GPU. Buyers will be able to choose from two variants – 32GB storage with 3GB RAM, and 64GB storage with 4GB RAM.

For photography, the device is equipped with a dual-camera setup that includes a combination of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. For selfies and video calling, there’s an 8-megapixel f/2.2 shooter up front.

For security, there’s a fingerprint sensor at the back, and the device is backed by a 3,060mAh battery. Like most recent Nokia smartphones, the Nokia 5.1 Plus too is a part of Google’s Android One initiative. This means, it runs stock Android Oreo, and is in line to receive Android 9 Pie sometime later this year.
