Until now, there had been only sketchy information about the upcoming Nokia handsets. It is expected that the upcoming Android smartphones from Nokia are likely to yet again cater to the budget category and boast some entry-level features. Based on the latest leaks, here are the specifications and features of the Nokia 3 in detail. Also Read - Nokia 6.2 launching in India tomorrow: Check specifications, features and more
Nokia 3 specifications and features
If the latest report on Nokia Power User is to be believed, the purported Nokia 3, dubbed as Nokia E1 in the past, is expected to boast a 5.2-inch HD (720p) display and come powered with a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 308 GPU. It is expected to include 16GB of internal storage.
In terms of photography, the smartphone is likely to feature a 13-megapixel rear camera and for selfies, a 5-megapixel camera will be placed upfront.
As Nokia embraces rival Google s mobile platform for its re-entry into the smartphone world, the Nokia 3 is expected to run the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. ALSO READ: Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and a reincarnated Nokia 3310 rumored to be showcased at MWC 2017
Based on previous leaks, the Nokia 3 is expected to be an entry-level Android smartphone and the fresh details about its specifications appear to justify the nomenclature. In terms of pricing, the Nokia 3 is expected to carry a price tag of around $150, Rs 10,000 approximately.
It is worth mentioning that unlike the Nokia 6, which made its debut exclusively in the Chinese market, the Nokia 3 will be reportedly available in major markets when it goes on sale in March or April. To put into perspective, when HMD Global launched the Nokia 6 in January, it chose China as the first market to test waters and gauge consumer response. Now, if the latest reports are to be believed, the company seems confident enough to bring the smartphone to other markets by announcing it at the upcoming MWC event which is scheduled to kick start from February 28 to March 2, 2017.
At the same event, other smartphones expected include the Nokia 5 which is likely to also feature a 5.2-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM and a 12-megapixel rear camera. It is expected to cost slightly higher than the Nokia 3 at $200 (approximately Rs 13,500). Given that the spec sheet is more or less the same as the Nokia 3, it could be the processor type that could be the reason for the higher price. What is likely to be the main highlight at HMD Global s event at the MWC is the so-called reincarnation of the Nokia 3310. It is rumored to be priced at just $60 (approximately Rs 4,000). The original Nokia 3310 was launched about 17 years ago and is known to be one of the most durable, battery efficient feature phones by Nokia. It will be an interesting watch to see how Nokia gives the iconic feature phone a modern twist.
