Nokia under HMD Global made a grand comeback in the smartphone market at this year s MWC expo. We saw the return of the classic 3310 in a new avatar, as well as new Android smartphones like the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. Although a correct timeframe was not provided for their market release, the company had vaguely mentioned that these phones would be available in European markets in Q2. An exec of HMD Global has now confirmed that these new Nokia phones will be officially on sale by the second half of Q2. Tomislav Himbele who is the head of marketing at HMD Global for the Eastern Europe market, provided this information in an interview with Croation tech portal BugTV. Himbele confirmed that the Nokia smartphones along with the redux 3310 would be released in the market in the second half of Q2 which could possibly fall around Mid-May. The Nokia-branded smartphones are said to be already up for pre-order in most of European markets.
This timeframe would seem accurate considering the fact that HMD Global has announced that these smartphones would be available in India by June. HMD Global plans to launch the Nokia 3310 phone in India for around Rs 3,500, which is the rough translation of its Euro price. The Nokia 3 is priced at 139 Euros (Rs 9,800 approximately), the Nokia 5 at 180 Euros (Rs 12,660 approximately). The Nokia 6 was launched at 299 Euros which comes to around Rs 21,000 approximately.
