HMD Global announced a modern rendition of the Nokia 3310 during MWC 2017 earlier this year. The device is now listed on multiple European carrier sites ahead of an imminent launch. While HMD Global had announced the retail price of the phone as EUR 49 (Rs 3,400 approximately), turns out the listed amount is actually higher at nearly EUR 59 (Rs 4,100 approximately). In Austria, Nokia 3310 is priced at EUR 58 while in Germany, the cost is between EUR 59 and EUR 69. Some carriers have also listed the price as EUR 53. As there has been no official announcement from HMD Global regarding an increase in price, the variations could be owing to carrier differences. With Europe increasing taxation for imports of electronics, the hiked prices are attributed to the new tax structure. There has been no confirmation regarding date of shipment except through a German retailer, which listed April 28 as the date, making the availability less than a week away. A new 3G version of the phone also cropped up in Sweden retailing at EUR 93 (Rs 6,500 approximately). The listing, initially treated as a leak for the yet-to-be-announced 3G version of Nokia 3310, was soon dismissed by HMD Global. However, Inet, the retailer, continues to list the phone for 899kr or a little over EUR 93. The availability for the 3G version is said to be May.
HMD Global has expressed an interest in India in the past, and the phone is expected to arrive in the sub-continent sometime in June. While there s nothing officially announced by the company yet, some e-commerce portals have already listed the phone between Rs 3,299 and Rs 3,499. Pre-orders for the phone have also commenced.
