Nokia 5.1 Plus, one of the latest smartphones from the smartphone company, HMD Global is likely to receive Android 9 Pie update before the end of the year. This information was revealed by Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer for HMD Global. For the people who have not been following the world of technology or maybe living under a rock, HMD Global is responsible for bringing Nokia-branded devices in the market. The company launched the Nokia 5.1 Plus less than a month back on September 24. Sarvikas revealed this information while replying to a tweet inquired “Will Nokia 5.1 plus be tasting ‘pie’ before the end of 2018?”.
The question was in response to the original tweet by Sarvikas about the discounts on the Nokia 5.1 Plus and 6.1 Plus during the Flipkart Big Billion Days festival sale event. He responded adding, “I would be surprised if it does not”. For context, Nokia 5.1 Plus launched with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and it comes under the Android One program. HMD Global has teamed up with Google to power its entire lineup with Android One.

The reason to team up with Google as part of the Android One program is to ensure that the Nokia-branded devices in the market get the latest Android security patches and major operating system updates with as less delay as possible.
