Nokia X5 was scheduled to be launched at an event on July 11 in China, but HMD Global took to the official Nokia account on Weibo to announce that cancellation of the event. The company issued an apology for canceling the event. It was not clear on why the event did not take place, but it is likely to be some conflict with the schedule of the launch event at the venue. The company has not announced the new launch date for the event, but it is likely that it may schedule something in the coming weeks.
This announcement came hours after the price of the Nokia X5 leaked on the internet. According to Chinese website ITHome, a poster of the launch poster of the device leaked out on the internet. As pointed out in the report, the poster is likely from the official Nokia Mobile China website. According to the poster, the company was planning to launch the device at the price of RMB 799, which converts to approximately Rs 8,200. This does not imply that HMD Global was planning to launch the device at the same price in the Indian market, but it does give us a hint about what to expect.

Price of the Nokia X5 or the Nokia 5.1 Plus came after what appears to be the official renders of the Nokia X5 along with a notch appeared on the internet. As reported previously, Nokia X5 is expected to sport a 5.86-inch HD+ display while running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600-series SoC or MediaTek Helio P60 SoC. It is likely that HMD Global will launch multiple variants of the device featuring 3GB/4GB RAM, and 32GB/64GB storage.
The device is expected to feature a dual-camera setup at the back with a combination of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. The smartphone will also support Bluetooth 4.2, and run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.
