HMD Global will ship Android 9 Pie update to Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus smartphones this month. There will be two more devices – Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco – that will get the same update in November. Yesterday at Nokia 7.1 launch event in London, the company made the announcement about the Android 9 Pie update for these four Nokia devices, 9to5Google reports.
Nokia has already starting rolling out the Android 9 Pie update to Nokia 7 Plus late last month, although in between the process, Juho SarVikas once pointed out delay due to specific certification bugs. Anyhow, the Pie update made Nokia 7 plus among one of the first non-Pixel smartphones to get the update.
At its London event, HMD Global alongside making Pie update announcement also unveiled Nokia 7.1 smartphone and two new audio accessories – the Nokia True Wireless Earbuds and Nokia Pro Wireless Earphones.

Featuring dual-anodized diamond-cut edges, the Nokia 7.1 comes in two colors – Midnight Blue and Steel. The new Nokia 7.1 follows the same design language as the previously available Nokia 5.1 Plus and the Nokia 6.1 Plus.
The Nokia 7.1 features ‘PureDisplay’ technology, which according to HMD ensures higher contrast, and more vibrant colors. It has a 5.84-inch IPS LCD FHD+ notched panel, with a resolution of 1080×2280 pixels, and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display is HDR10-compliant, and has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Interestingly, the smartphone also has a dedicated 16-bit engine that can convert SDR content to HDR in real-time.
