After the Nokia 7 Plus, now Nokia 6.1 has become the second smartphone from HMD Global to receive Google’s latest stable Android 9 Pie firmware update. The information was shared by HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, on Twitter.

Following a query for Nokia 6.1 Plus update, Sarvikas replied that HMD will keep its promise of the October update cycle, and “month is not over yet.” So it is possible that Nokia 6.1 Plus users might also receive the stable Android 9 Pie some time today, as Sarkvikas’ tweet mentions – “still a good 24h left to keep our promise.”

Recently at the launch of Nokia 3.1 Plus, HMD Global also confirmed that Nokia 5.1 Plus will join company’s Android 9 Pie roadmap soon, and it plans to get all of its devices on the latest version of Android by the end of this year. Android Pie brings a number of features that will shape the future of Android for devices with tall display and thin bezels.

One of the standout features is called Digital Wellbeing, which lets you track the amount of time spent using the device. The feature is meant to help you regain control on your digital life. Nokia 7 plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus are among the first non-Pixel devices to get the Digital Wellbeing feature. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, provided they are running Android 9 Pie.
