Nokia 6.1 Plus, the global variant of Nokia X6 sold in China, is expected to launch in India on August 21. HMD Global, the Finnish company with license to sell Nokia-branded smartphones, has already sent out media invites for an event in Delhi, where it is expected to launch the smartphone. The Nokia 6.1 Plus is widely seen as the challenger to Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 in the sub-Rs 20,000 price segment.
Ahead of the launch tomorrow, Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart has put out a microsite for the upcoming smartphone. The teaser page is using the same video and image used by Nokia Mobile India on its social pages, which strongly suggests that the smartphone will be exclusive to Flipkart. In addition to the teaser image shared by Nokia Mobile India, Flipkart’s microsite for the smartphone features Bollywood music director trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
They feature in a video titled “TwoOfAKind” which ends with the message “coming soon to Flipkart”. It is not clear whether TwoOfAKind is hinting at some kind of a feature or it has to do with the launch of two different phones on the same day. There are reports of HMD Global launching the Nokia 5.1 Plus alongside the Nokia 6.1 Plus at the event in Delhi tomorrow. There is a possibility that the message simply refers to partnership between the Indian e-commerce player and HMD Global.
There are also reports of the company launching a flagship smartphone dubbed Nokia 9 tomorrow. We will know more about HMD Global’s plans for the Indian market and its device lineup officially tomorrow. In the meantime, here is everything you need to know about Nokia 6.1 Plus:
