Nokia 6 registrations cross 420,000 ahead of first sale on January 19

Nokia 6 is the first Android smartphone from HMD Global, and will be on sale on January 19.

After a lot of buzz, Nokia s comeback Android smartphone — Nokia 6 — was launched last week by HMD Global. Nokia 6, as of now is restricted to China, and it will be going on sale for the first time via JD.com on January 19. The smartphone is priced at RMB 1,699, which is approximately Rs 16,750. Looking at the registrations numbers, there s no denying that people have been eagerly waiting for a Nokia smartphone. In just 24 hours, registrations for the Nokia 6 crossed the 230,000 mark. Nokia has two categories for registrations — one is free reservation, while the other requires a person to pay RMB 66 (approximately Rs 650). The company has revealed that over 9,200 have paid to reserve the smartphone, while free reservations have crossed a whopping 411,470.

HMD Global has reignited the Nokia branding by launching the Nokia 6 in China. There s currently no word on when the smartphone will be launched in other markets, including India. Nokia 6 specifications

The Nokia 6 features a 5.5-inch in-cell full HD display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass on top. At the heart is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with X6 LTE modem paired with 4GB of RAM. There is 64GB internal storage, which can be further expanded via microSD card.

In the photography department, the Nokia 6 features a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF along with an 8 megapixel front snapper with f/2.0 aperture for selfies or video calling. HMD Global and Nokia will be present at MWC 2017 next month in Barcelona. If all the reports are to be believed, the company will be announcing the high-end Nokia 8 at the event. The company recently revealed that there will be 6-7 Nokia smartphones launching this year, across all price segments.
