Nokia s comeback Android smartphone Nokia 6 had been officially announced by HMD Global last week. By far, we have only seen a handful of press images, and now an unboxing video of the anticipated smartphone has surfaced online. Additionally, camera samples from the Nokia 6 have also been leaked. The unboxing video by TechDroider shows off the Nokia 6 in all its glory. Despite Nokia s first Android smartphone, HMD has not put extra efforts in the packaging of the smartphone. It features an image of the smartphone on the front with specification details on the back. Inside the box are SIM ejecting tool, charging adapter, USB cable, and earphones. Coming to the smartphone, the variant received by the reviewer is the Black color option. The smartphone looks rather regular in terms of design. It comes in a metal body design with a rear panel that appears to have a slightly matte finish. The display has 2.5D curved glass giving it a smoother appearance. The fingerprint sensor is layered beneath the squircle-shaped home button. The SIM card slot is on the left, while the right has volume rocker and power button. The bottom houses the USB port along with what looks like a strap hole (something which was pretty common in Nokia s hay days when people would attach charms to their mobile devices to personalize them).
Once you power the device, you will be greeted with powered by Android followed by the iconic Nokia logo and startup tone. It is from here that it turns into the usual drill. There are Android 7.0 Nougat apps on the home screen, with a slight tweak of Nokia s own UI on top. ALSO READ: Dear Nokia, it s good to have you back, but the world has changed!
Coming to the camera samples shared by the reviewer, there are just a handful of photos which appear to have been captured in two different lighting conditions. The Nokia 6 comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF along with an 8 megapixel front snapper with f/2.0 aperture for selfies or video calling. Looking at the camera samples, it appears the Nokia 6 is capable of delivering sharp focus, albeit in outdoor light. The colors are more on the natural side and do not make the images appear retouched.
To recall, the Nokia 6 features a 5.5-inch in-cell full HD display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass on top. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with X6 LTE modem and paired with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB on internal storage which can be further expanded via microSD card. Keeping the smartphone ticking is a 3,000mAh battery. The sound output on the smartphone has been further powered by Dolby Atmos.
Given that this is just an unboxing video with a handful of camera samples, we need to wait for a full review of the Nokia 6 to ascertain the future of the once popular mobile company.
