Yesterday, when a report claimed that the Nokia 7 Plus smartphones have started getting access to the stable version of Android 9.0 Pie, it left quite a few of us sceptical. Today, HMD Global officially announced the Android 9.0 Pie Beta 4 update for the Nokia 7 Plus. It is the pre-final Android developer preview build for Android 9.0 Pie. Google’s stable release for Pixel devices is rolled out after the Beta 4. This brings Nokia 7 Plus users one step closer to the final Android 9.0 Pie experience. With the latest Android 9.0 Pie DP4 (Beta 4) update, Android P gesture controls will be enabled on the Nokia 7 Plus. It will allow users to switch quickly between apps using the new omnidirectional home button, as well as making split screen views simple to activate. Till date, “more than 65,000 Nokia smartphone users have participated in the beta labs and developer preview programs”, noted HMD Global in a press release.
Additionally, NokiaPowerUser has reported that the Android Beta 4 update is available on the Nokia 7 Plus TA-1046 variant in India. The update file is around 1.4GB in size.

It’s worth noting that you’ll loose all your data during the update, so you are advised to do a complete backup of your phone before attempting the update.
