HMD Global is set to launch Nokia 7 Plus, a redesigned version of existing Nokia 7 smartphone, at MWC 2018 later this month. The smartphone recently appeared in the form of press renders alongside entry-level Nokia 1 smartphone. Now, we have come across the first alleged live photos of the upcoming smartphone.
Nokia 7 Plus is widely expected to be the first smartphone from the Finnish company to feature an 18:9 display. While the press render did show what the display will look like, the new hands-on photo of the device gives a more clearer picture of the device. The leaked photo shows that HMD Global will stick to stock Android UI it has been implementing on its smartphone since launch last year.
The front shows a tall display with rounded corners and what appears to be a 2.5D curved glass on top of the display extending all the way to cover the front camera as well. According to leaks, the Nokia 7 Plus could be HMD Global’s first smartphone to launch under Android One program.
In terms of specifications, the Nokia 7 Plus is expected to sport a 6-inch display with Full HD+ resolution of 2160×1080 pixels, and taller 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, which will be an improvement over the Snapdragon 630 chipset found under the hood of Nokia 7. The smartphone is expected to launch with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
On the camera front, the Nokia 7 Plus is likely to feature a dual rear camera setup with Carl Zeiss optics. The rear camera could feature a combination of 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel cameras with one of the image sensor supporting 2x optical zoom. The smartphone is also expected to include a 16-megapixel camera, and support features like Bothie mode.
Nokia 7 Plus, like all major smartphones, will feature a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It is expected to arrive in two colors – Pearl White and Matte Black – later this month. At MWC 2018, HMD Global is also expected to launch Nokia 9 flagship, Nokia 6 (2018) and 4G version of Nokia 3310 for the global market. All of these devices are expected to launch in India sometime in April.
