Ahead of its first sale, the Nokia 7 Plus has already started to receive the new Android 8.1 Oreo update. Which means, when sales begin from April 30, customers will receive the device running Android 8.1 out-of-the-box. The Nokia 7 Plus will be up for pre-orders on Amazon India starting April 20.
Along with it, the update is also rolling out to the Nokia 6 (2018), which is already up for sale via the Nokia Mobile Shop, and select retail outlets including Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, Croma and Reliance. Existing Nokia 6 (2018) users will soon receive the update, while for the ones who purchase the phone going forward, will get the device already running the new update.
The recently launched Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco are all part of Google’s Android One program, which consequently means that these devices will receive iterative Android updates, and monthly security patches ahead of any other smartphones in the market. The update being rolled out is around 590.2MB in size for Nokia 7 Plus, and 802MB for the Nokia 6 (2018). It is expected to bring changes like battery saving navigation buttons, revamped power menu, new settings menu and Bluetooth battery percentage.

Also interesting is the space-saving feature in the new update, which is basically helpful when a smartphone is running low on space. Here, active apps are distinguished as those which were active in foreground and background, and also on other packages. As for inactive apps, the number of days till which it will be considered inactive will be determined by a system operator.
