Ever since HMD Global brought the Nokia brand back into the mobile world, it has launched several Nokia-branded Android smartphones, both in India and around the world. The Finnish company is now set to expand its mobile portfolio in India even further with another launch. HMD Global has an event scheduled in New Delhi, where it will be launching the Nokia 8.1.
This isn’t the first launch of the Nokia 8.1, as the smartphone was already made official by the company at an event in Dubai, just last week. Today’s event is all about bringing the smartphone to Indian shores. Excited? Here’s everything you need to know!
Nokia 8.1: Expected price in India
An upper mid-range smartphone, Nokia 8.1 will be taking over the mantle from the Nokia 7 Plus, which has been quite a success. If we go by Nokia 7 Plus’s price, we can expect Nokia 8.1 to be priced somewhere around Rs 30,000 in India.
Nokia 8.1: Features and specifications
As the Nokia 8.1 has already been officially launched, we already know everything about the smartphone’s specifications. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The smartphone has a 6.18-inch FullHD+ notched display with a resolution of 1080×2280 pixels and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The display is also HDR10-compliant and has a contrast ratio of 1500:1. Having an all-glass design, the Nokia 8.1 is an Android One-certified smartphone and runs Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box.

For imaging, the Nokia 8.1 has a ZEISS-enhanced dual-lens camera system at the back. It’s comprised of a 12-megapixel lens and a 13-megapixel secondary sensor, complete with PDAF and OIS. Up front, there’s a 20-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. All standard connectivity options are included in the mix, with a 3,500mAh battery rounding off the package.
