The price of Nokia 8 has been reportedly dropped by HMD Global. The flagship smartphone was launched at Rs 36,999 and according to retailer Mahesh Telecom, it is now available at Rs 28,999, following a drop of Rs 8,000. In its tweet, the retailer also reveals a price drop for Nokia 5. It is said to be available at a discounted price of Rs 12,499 for the 3GB RAM model. While this price drop looks impressive, it is yet to be announced by HMD Global officially. At the time of writing, both the Nokia 8 and Nokia 5 were listed online with their older prices. BGR India has reached out to the company to ascertain the drop and whether more models will be seeing a reduction in prices anytime soon.
Nokia 8, launched in September, boasts dual cameras, aluminum body design, and near-stock Android experience as its highlights. In terms of specifications, it is equipped with a 5.3-inch quad HD (2560 x 1440p) IPS 2K resolution display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.
For photography, it is equipped with a pair of 13-megapixel (Colour + OIS) + 13-megapixel (Monochrome) camera sensors at the back. Up front, there is a 13-megapixel camera. The phone comes with the ‘Bothie’ mode which allows you to capture or broadcast using both the front and back cameras simultaneously.
The phone ran Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. Last month, Android 8.1 Oreo beta update started rolling out to the smartphone. For connectivity, Nokia 8 includes a fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer, 4G LTE, 3.5mm audio port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
Nokia 5, on the other hand, was launched in August 2017 at Rs 12,499 for the 2GB model and Rs 13,499 for the 3GB version. It is equipped with 5.2-inch HD (720p) IPS display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, 16GB of internal storage, 13-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera, and3,000mAh battery. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box, and offers connectivity options including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB type C-port.
