HMD Global launched the Nokia 8 smartphone in August and at the time of launch, the company said that the smartphone will be available in India during the festive season. Now, the latest reports suggest that the device is scheduled to launch in India on September 26.
According to a report by 91mobiles, Nokia will be holding a press event on September 26 to launch its flagship device, the Nokia 8. The smartphone is said to go on sale in the second week of October. The reports also suggest that HMD Global want to capture the mass market for the phone and hence plans to launch it before Diwali. Keeping that in mind, the company will also be selling the phone offline.
The smartphone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 paired with 4GB of RAM, which promises a lag-free experience while using the smartphone. According to the latest reports, Nokia will soon be rolling out the Android Oreo update for the phone. The smartphone is expected to be priced at Rs 45,000.
One of the USPs of the Nokia 8 is its camera. The Nokia 8 features a 13-megapixel dual-camera setup at the rear with one sensor meant for RGB, while the other captures monochrome information. The primary sensor comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and PDAF support, f/2.0 aperture, and IR range finder. The dual-camera setup is powered by ZEISS optics. As far as specifications are concerned, the Nokia 8 flaunts a 5.3-inch IPS 2K resolution display with a rather high 700nits of brightness. Protecting the display is Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5. There is also 64GB of storage on offer, which can be expanded by up to 256GB using a microSD card. Up front, the device houses a 13-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The Nokia 8 also features three microphones for audio recording. It uses Nokia’s OZO Audio technology to capture audio with 360-degree spatial surround sound. The rest of the specifications include a fingerprint sensor, 3,090mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, and IP54 certification making it water resistant. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots (select markets only), 4G LTE, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0.
As is the talking point on Nokia smartphones, the Nokia 8 too runs on near-stock Android OS. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box, but the company promises that Android O update will be rolled out as soon as Google releases it.
