Ever since HMD Global revived the Nokia brand, users have been waiting for a true flagship smartphone from the Finnish company. The Nokia 8 sports top-of-the-line hardware, but had a disappointing camera. The Nokia 8 Sirocco that was launched at MWC 2018 is a looker, and comes with top notch hardware too, but the old Nokia devices we knew, were known for their camera prowess.
The Nokia 9 has been in the rumor mills for more than a year not, but is yet to see the light of the day. Now, if the latest leak is to be believed, the Nokia 9 could boast a triple rear camera setup, just like the recently launched Huawei P20 Pro. Specifications of the alleged Nokia 9 have leaked, courtesy of Finnish blog SuomiMobili, and there’s a lot in store for loyal Nokia fans to get excited about. Looking at the specs sheet, it appears that the Nokia 9 could be HMD Global’s best Nokia-branded smartphone.
Talking about the highlight, the smartphone will feature a 41-megapixel primary camera with OIS, wide-angle lens and dual aperture f/1.5 to f/2.4. It will be supplemented by a 20-megapixel sensor with telephoto lens, OIS and f/2.4 aperture. The third camera will be a monochrome sensor of 9.7-megapixel resolution, the leaked document reveals. The setup will include ZEISS optics, long with 4x optical zoom.

The cameras will be backed with LED and Xenon flash, which could make it a compact digital camera in your pocket. For selfie lovers, a 21-megapixel front camera with ZEISS optics is expected. The leaked document also hints at Pro Camera mode, which could be similar to Nokia Lumia smartphones that we have seen in the past.
Besides the camera, the smartphone will be a beast if the leaked specifications turn out to be true. The Nokia 9 could feature a 6.1-inch QHD AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core SoC, 8GB of RAM and 256GB onboard storage. With 3,900mAh battery, fast charging and wireless fast charging, the Nokia 9 will run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
Rumored connectivity options include dual-SIM cards, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth and GPS. For charging and data transfer, you get a USB Type-C port, and it will also be used for audio output, which means the phone will drop support for 3.5mm audio socket too. What’s more, the smartphone will also feature in-display fingerprint sensor.
Sure, looking at these specifications sheet, we are excited and can’t wait to get our hands on the Nokia 9. As of now, there is no word on when HMD Global plans to release the smartphone, but we will keep you posted as and when more details pour in.
