After a leaked press render yesterday, it seems the floodgates have been opened for Nokia s Lumia 1520. The 6-inch phablet has been spotted yet again in a huge gallery of images in which it is compared against a Sony Xperia phone and even iPad Mini to mainly highlight its 6-inch 1080p display. A tipster has tipped The Verge with all these images and is even claiming that the device will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with a 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a nano-SIM card slot. While on one hand this all new Lumia phablet looks highly inspired by the previous Lumia models like the Lumia 920, which donned a unibody design and edge to edge running display, the phablet also takes cues from the recently launched Lumia 925 when it comes to its rear camera, which is slightly protruding from the back. However, even though the phone looks similar to the Lumia 920, the Lumia 1520 has a slightly thinner side profile with sharper edges. Besides, one can also see a clear mention of the 1080p resolution support on the screen of the phone, as well as a nano-SIM tray and microSD tray flaunted in another photo. The placement of buttons and the 3.5mm audio jack on the sides remain the same as we have seen on previous Lumia models.
Besides these, an additional column of Live Tiles on the screen in one of the photos also confirm that the Lumia 1520 will run on Microsoft’s latest Windows Phone 8 update GDR3. Over the weekend we saw another leak that showed Windows Phone 8 GDR3 running on a Lumia 920, codenamed Lumia Bittersweet shimmer.
With all this being already leaked, now we await the launch of the phone to know if the 1520 will also sport a stylus like the Samsung Galaxy Note series of devices or software customization for note taking and scribbling like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Nokia is expected to announce the Lumia 1520 along with its first tablet running Windows RT at an event speculated to be held on September 26 in NYC.
