HMD Global has already confirmed its presence at MWC 2017 next month, and we can expect the unveiling of multiple Nokia-branded smartphones. While the Nokia 6 has already been announced, and the rumored Nokia 8 believed to be a premium device, there is one more smartphone that has been spotted online — the Nokia P1. This may not be the first time we have come across the name Nokia P1, but a new report claims that it will be one of the smartphones unveiled at MWC in Barcelona. Previous rumors claimed that the upcoming smartphone could be simply a rebadged Sharp Aquos P1, but new information states otherwise. Russian website Worket claims that the Nokia P1 will also be a high-end device powered by Qualcomm s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. Nokia P1 specifications
Based on the leaks, the Nokia P1 is expected to feature a 5.3-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is also expected to feature 128GB and 256GB onboard storage options, 3,500mAh battery with quick charging capabilities, and a fingerprint sensor.
For photography, it is expected to be equipped with a 22.6-megapixel rear camera with Zeiss-certification. The P1 is likely to be quite durable with IP57-level resistance to water and dust, and it will run on Android Nougat 7.0 out-of-the-box.
Nokia P1 price
The leak also suggests that prices for the Nokia P1 is expected to start from $800 (Rs 54,300 approximately) for the 128GB model, and go up to $950 (Rs 64,500 approximately) for the 256GB variant. The price seems to be a bit too good to be true, and we would advise the usual dose of caution.
Last week, a couple of videos surfaced online claiming that Qualcomm had accidentally shown off the Nokia 8 while demoing its latest Snapdragon 835 SoC at CES 2017. Almost immediately there were speculations that this was a high-end Nokia smartphone that would take on the likes of the iPhones and Pixels. But the chipset maker refuted these claims saying, We do not disclose details of our reference design. We ve seen a few stories rumouring what we demonstrated in our CES booth to be a Nokia device, those reports are not accurate, our 835 demos were on our own reference design devices which we use to demo our Snapdragon SoC s every year.
While multiple Nokia smartphones are expected to be unveiled next month, currently there s only one device that has been made official.
