Nokia has just teased a new product that it may be planning to launch in the Chinese market. According to a report by Chinese website Anzhuo, the company added a new post on its official Weibo handle hinting that it may be planning to launch a smart speaker. The report added that the company is planning to “do something” soon after successfully bringing back the Nokia-branded smartphones to the market. Looking closely at the teaser, the six-second GIF shows a Nokia X5 getting packed inside a box along with music nodes floating out from the top of the box.
The report claims that the company is planning to launch a smart speaker in addition to some comments inquiring about the same in response to the original post on Weibo. However, the company has not clarified anything at the time of writing. According to the caption of the teaser, the company states, “Nokia X5 An almighty experience. Let’s take a look at what this is! Keywords: square, hard, speaker”. We at BGR India are skeptical about the report or if the company is launching a smart speaker as it looks like a simple post promoting the X5 in the market.

But, the only thing out of scope here is the caption which states that the keyword is “Square” because the graphic shows a rectangular box. Companies have not packed their devices in a square shaped box in a long time while packing them in as small boxes as possible to cut on the cost of packing which generally is a rectangle.
So the square is a considerable smaller or a wasteful form factor for packing hinting at something, if not a smart speaker.
