A day after Nokia announced its new Lumia smartphones running on Windows Phone 8, the Finnish cellphone vendor is dropping prices of its older Lumia smartphones running on an older version of the operating system, Reuters reports. The Lumia 800 received a 15 percent cut while other models received lower cuts. The reductions have not been reflected in India at the time of filing this report. This is not the first time Nokia dropped the prices of its Lumia smartphones. The Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 had seen significant price drops of up to 20 percent soon after their launch. Nokia’s new Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 will only be available towards the end of the year, which means the company could have a terrible third quarter as the existing Lumia smartphones won’t get updated to Windows Phone 8, which might put off potential Lumia buyers. The company’s Symbian smartphones are already on a decline and the only devices selling well in the market are its low-cost Asha feature phones.
