HMD Global has all but confirmed the launch date for the much-rumored Nokia X5. After the July 11 event was cancelled for unspecified reasons, the Nokia X5 will now be launched tomorrow (July 18).

The company took to Weibo (spotted by ithome) to tease the July 18 launch event. The teaser poster mentions the Nokia X5, which is pretty much all the confirmation we need. In the run up to the event, the smartphone has leaked numerous times giving us a fair idea on what to expect.

After the Nokia X6, the upcoming Nokia X5 will be the second device in HMD Global’s portfolio to flaunt a notched display. Leaked renders have shown a front panel dominated by the display with a rather wide notch at the top. While the bezels on the side are near-invisible, the chin is not. In fact, it is wide enough to fit the Nokia logo. The back panel is quite minimal with a dual-camera module, a fingerprint sensor, and the Nokia logo below it.

Nokia X5 rumored specifications, features

Based on what we have come across so far, the Nokia X5 is expected to feature a 5.86-inch HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is likely to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600-series chipset or a MediaTek Helio P60 SoC. A recent leak however points towards two variants – base variant powered by a Helio P23 SoC, and a top-end variant powered by a Helio P60 SoC.

The smartphone is also expected to feature a dual-camera setup (13-megapixel+5-megapixel) at the back, and a 3,000mAh battery. On the software front, the dual-SIM device runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.

The top model with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM will be priced at RMB 999 (Rs 10,200 approximately). While the Nokia X5 is launching in China, it is likely to be rebranded as the Nokia 5.1 for international markets, including India
