As expected, HMD Global has launched the Nokia X5 today in China. The smartphone is the latest in Nokia’s X-series, which also includes the Nokia X6. The Nokia X6 is set to launch internationally as the Nokia 6.1 Plus tomorrow. Eventually, the Nokia X5 could also launch in international markets rebranded as the Nokia 5.1 Plus.
Nokia X5 prices, availability
Buyers will be able to choose from two Nokia X5 variants. The base variant with 32GB storage and 3GB of RAM is priced at RMB 999 (approximately Rs 10,200). The top variant with 64GB storage and 4GB of RAM is priced at RMB 1,399 (approximately Rs 14,300). The smartphone comes in Black, White, and Blue color variants, and will be going on sale starting tomorrow via a few Chinese retail websites.
Nokia X5 specifications, features
The Nokia X5’s specifications and features are in line with what has leaked before. The smartphone flaunts a 5.86-inch 19:9 display with HD+ (1520×720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is a MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core chipset paired with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. The smartphone’s built-in memory can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card.
For photography, the Nokia X5 is equipped with a dual-camera setup at the back. This setup includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF support, and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and 80.4 degrees wide-angle lens.

For security, there’s a fingerprint sensor, and connectivity options include 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and USB Type-C port. The device is backed by a 3,060mAh battery. On the software front, the dual-SIM smartphone runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo. It will also be upgradable to Android P.
