HMD Global is always looking to keep the security patches updated on its devices, and has also started rolling out the new OS to some of its devices. Now, as reported by ITHome.com, the Finnish company is has started rolling out the November security patch for its Nokia X7 smartphone. The software further brings in some bug fixes, major camera improvements, and also the addition of new Night Scene Mode to enhance shots captured in low light situations. The software update is around 85MB in size, and is currently available to everyone in China. As mentioned, the biggest changes noticed are in the camera. The Nokia X7 has not yet been launched globally, and is currently limited to the Chinese Market. That said, HMD Global has scheduled a launch event in Dubai on December 5, where it is expected to launch as many as three smartphones. Among them is likely to be the Nokia X7 rebranded as Nokia 8.1 for the global market.
The one factor differentiating the Nokia 8.1 from the Chinese Nokia X7 will be the operating system. The device launching globally will be a part of Google’s Android One program. This means it will run stock Android OS out-of-the-box, which could likely be the latest Android Pie.

To recap, the Nokia X7 features a 6.18-inch IPS display with FHD+ resolution and a notch at the top. Under the hood is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor paired with Adreno 616 GPU. There is up to 6GB RAM on offer, and up to 128GB internal storage on offer that can be expanded using a microSD card.
The rest of the features include dual-camera setup (12-megapixel+13-megapixel) at the back, 20-megapixel front camera, 3,500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, and a USB Type-C port.
