Right on cue, Facebook released its new Paper app for iOS devices last night. We have been using the app since it came out on the App Store and can tell you that this app is better at Facebook than the original Facebook app itself (we are working on a review right now). You too can get the app on your iPhone but only if you are in the US, since Facebook has only made it live in the US App Store. However, there are a couple of work arounds to get the app, no matter where in the world you live. To download Facebook Paper or for that matter any app that is not available globally and only in the US store, the only requirement is to have a US iTunes account. Thankfully, Apple does not mandatory require credit card details to verify the user’s location. So you can easily create a new free iTunes account for the US store. We have detailed the process here. If you don’t want to create a new account, you can also change the country of your current account. For this, fire up the App Store on your iPhone and hit the featured section. Scroll down till the end where you have your Apple ID displayed. Click on your Apple ID and select “View Apple ID” option. From there you can see the current country your account is associated with and can even change the country. I don’t prefer this option as it converts the primary Apple account into a free account from where you cannot buy any paid apps or services.
No matter which option you choose, now you can get any app on iOS from any country legitimately, till the time they are free!
