In an email to Bloomberg, Samsung said that the report was ‘groundless’. BlackBerry in an earlier statement also spoke the same language. “BlackBerry has not engaged in discussions with Samsung with respect to any possible offer to purchase BlackBerry,” the company said in a statement. Note how both the companies deny any discussions, but do not deny or confirm whether Samsung has approached with an offer. Just two months ago, Samsung had partnered BlackBerry to provide an extra-layer of security for Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and tablets. In essence, from this year onwards, Samsung’s Galaxy devices running on Knox security software, will also include an extra-layer of security provided by BlackBerry’s enterprise know-how. We cannot help but speculate how strategic it would be for Samsung to get Blackberry in its realm of things. For now though, it looks otherwise, or maybe the companies think it’s too early in the stage to reveal anything? Only time will tell.
