In a move to take on Quikr, Amazon India has launched a new service called Sell as Individual that lets you sell new and used products on the e-commerce website. It is easy to get started with, includes doorstep pickup, packing and delivery of products. Whether you are a small home entrepreneur or an individual trying to sell your products online, Amazon India has just made things simpler. The Sell as Individual service lets you post ads of new and used products across a range of categories – including mobiles, tablets, watches, video games, laptops, books, fashion and jewellery. To get started with, login with your credentials on Amazon India and visit this page. Next, click on Start Selling button and fill-up details for your product listing.
You will have to choose a category from the available options. For instance, if you want to sell a mobile phone or tablet, select electronic category. Similarly, if you want to sell a wristwatch or book, you ll have to select books, watches & more category. After you select the category, say mobile phone, you will have to enter other details. This includes brand, model, color, internal storage, all of which will need to be selected from the drop down menu. Below this, you will be asked if it s a new or used product. If selling a used device, you will have to select options such as the age of the device, physical condition and warranty details. Next, you ll have to upload photo of the product, followed by title (product name) and the price. You can also add comments, for instance, if you are selling a used smartphone that has minimal scratches or dents, mention it here. Apart from product description and other details, you ll have have to enter pickup address, phone number, email address. How selling on Amazon India works
The process is very simple. You list your product, add photos and all other details accurately. When buyers are looking for that product, your listing will also appear in the search results. If the buyer is interested, he / she can place a buy order on Amazon.in. Once the payment is made, you need to schedule an appointment for doorstep pickup.
Once the product is picked up, Amazon India will deliver the products to the buyer. In case the buyer is not happy,he / she can return the product back, which Amazon will deliver to you in 2-4 days. Only when the transaction is complete andbuyer is satisfied with the product, Amazon will notify you about the same in an email and credit the moneyin your bank account within 3-5 days. Amazon India ‘Sell as Individual’ charges
Unlike other services, Amazon India charges are very reasonable. For products valued under Rs 1,000, Amazon will only charge you Rs 10 per item sold. For something that is valued between Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000, you will end up paying Rs 50 per item sold, whereas for devices above Rs 5,000, you will be charged Rs 100.
As a part ofintroductory offer to encourage you to sell more of used products, Amazon India will also be offering incentives to individual sellers. On selling five used books, or movies, or music or video games, Amazon will offer Rs 1,000 cashback as Amazon Pay Balance. This balance can be used for purchasing any product on the portal. This offer is valid till January 15, 2017, and the cashback will be credited 30 days after the offer ends, i.e. sometime around February 15, 2017. However, there is some eligibility criteria for the offer – the seller must be a resident of Bengaluru, the ad posted should adhere to Amazon India terms and conditions, seller must schedule pickup of product within two days from date of order received.
How is it better than Quikr
Quikr has two listing models. You can sign-up on the portal and create a product listing with all details. If the buyer is interested, he / she will contact you, after which you will have to personally visit the meet the stranger at some place, show the product and negotiate. In other model, the company assigns a relationship manager who takes care of all the process – from listing to negotiation and arranging transportation. The company doesn t charge anything for the listing, but it does charge you the convenience fee for the services it offers. For a product worth under Rs 1,000 you will be charged flat Rs 50, for a product worth between Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000, you will be charged five percent of the selling amount, and for product above Rs 10,000, you will be charged Rs 500.
In case if Amazon India, you get to post the ad for free, there is no need to meet random strangers or negotiate, and the charges after selling a product are just between Rs 10 to Rs 100. As a pilot, the service is only in Bangalore, and depending on the response, the service could be expected to expand to other regions too.
