The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has updated its cashless payments app, BHIM, with performance improvements, bug fixes and enhanced QR code scanning feature. UPI was launched in August 2016 with 21 banks, and over the period of time the number of banks have gradually increased. Currently, the app supports 67 banks, including Paytm Payments Bank and Airtel Payments Bank. This means, if you have a payments bank account with Airtel or Paytm, you link that as a default account on BHIM to send and receive money. To link a bank account on BHIM app, open the app and tap on Bank Account. Then on the top right corner, tap on the three dots, followed by change bank account and click on proceed. Here, you will see the list of member banks.
Select the bank that you want to add as your default bank and click on next. If your mobile number is linked to an account in the bank that you ve chosen, the app will fetch details and show you. Simply tap on the account, and it will now be added as default bank.
At any point you want to change your default bank account, tap on Bank Account on the app s home screen. It will show you all your linked bank accounts. Here, simply tap on Make Default then tap on proceed and it will be added as your default bank account.
