Ever since the Razer Phone launched last year, a lot of other Android OEMs have hopped on to the ‘gaming smartphone’ bandwagon. After Xiaomi (Black Shark) and Asus (ROG Phone), it’s now Nubia’s turn to make its way into this newly-created niche smartphone segment with the Red Magic.
According to a report on Beebom, the Chinese technology company, which originally began as a subsidiary of ZTE, will be bringing its Nubia Red Magic gaming smartphone to India in December.
If that’s indeed the case, then Nubia Red Magic will be the first gaming-centric smartphone to be launched in the country. Other smartphones like Xiaomi Black Shark, Razer Phone, and Asus ROG Phone have been available in other regions around the world for some time now, but none has been launched in India (yet).
Getting back to Nubia Red Magic, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s last year Snapdragon 835 SoC, paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. It sports a 6-inch FullHD+ display with a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels. There’s Android Oreo on-board, skinned with Red Magic OS custom UI overlay.
For imaging, Nubia Red Magic features a 24-megapixel camera at the back. There’s also an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies and video calls. The smartphone has all standard connectivity options and is backed by a 3800mAh battery.

Being a gaming smartphone, the Red Magic comes with some distinct design elements. These include a hexagonal primary camera lens, and a vertical strip with customizable RGB lighting running in the middle of the smartphone’s back panel.
