ZTE’s sub-brand Nubia has launched its Z9 Mini in India today. The smartphone is priced at Rs 16,999 and will be available exclusively on Amazon India. The company currently offers only the black variant of the device. With its pricing and specifications, the Nubia Z9 Mini would compete with the likes of the Xiaomi Mi 4 and OnePlus One. The Xiaomi Mi 4 16GB is currently priced at Rs 17,999, while the OnePlus One at Rs 18,998 and Nubia Z9 Mini at Rs 16,999. The Nubia Z9 Mini is relatively thinner at 8.2mm whereas the OnePlus One and the Mi 4 both are slightly thick at 8.9mm. The Z9 Mini weighs the lightest with 147 grams followed by Mi 4 at 149 grams and OnePlus One is heavier at 162 grams.
Display
All three smartphones feature a full HD 1080p display. Both the Mi 4 and the Z9 Mini have a 5-inch display translating into a pixel density of 441ppi. The OnePlus One, on the other hand, has a larger 5.5-inch display and a slightly lower pixel density of 401ppi.
Processor and RAM
This is one area where the Nubia Z9 Mini lags behind the other two. It features a Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset paired with Adreno 405 with 2GB of RAM. The other two smartphones are powered by a Snapdragon 801 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz and paired with Adreno 330 GPU. Both the processors are paired with 3GB of RAM as well.
Storage
The Nubia Z9 Mini is the only smartphone out of the three to have a microSD card slot. It has 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by another 128GB using a microSD card. Neither the OnePlus One nor the Xiaomi Mi 4 have a microSD card slot. Though the two come in 64GB variants as well, which are more expensive.
Camera
The Nubia Z9 Mini beats both the Xiaomi Mi 4 and OnePlus One, and it features a 16-megapixel back camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. the other two smartphones come with a 13-megapixel camera at the back. On the front however, the Mi 4 features an 8-megapixel snapper, while the OnePlus One lags behind with a 5-megapixel camera.
Battery
All the smartphones come with a non-removable battery. The Nubia Z9 Mini lags behind with a 2,900mAh battery, whereas the Mi 4 and OnePlus One smartphones feature a 3,080mAh and 3,100mAh battery respectively. All three smartphones are closely matched. The Nubia Z9 Mini scores high on the camera and expandable microSD card slot but the Xiaomi Mi 4 and OnePlus One beat it with a better processor and higher RAM.
