Huang describes the Tegra X1 as a mobile super chipset, and unlike last year s chipset that brought the Kepler architecture graphics to a mobile chip, the X1 brings Maxwell graphics to mobiles. Boasting 256 GPU cores (as compared to 192 on the K1), Nvidia claims that the Tegra X1 offers twice the performance as its predecessor. As far as power consumption is concerned however, the X1 consumes the same amount of power as the K1. Also Read - Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs launched for entry level gaming laptops
The company further boasts that the X1 has over one teraflops of processing power, which in essence has more horsepower than the fastest supercomputer of 15 years ago. The mobile chipset is powerful enough to run desktop apps and games as well, and the company showcased how well the chipset handled Unreal Engine 4.
