Ride-sharing platform Ola has teamed up with payment platform PhonePe to announced “AutoPay”, a new feature to provide hassle-free booking experience for cabs and auto rickshaws. The company announced that PhonePe users can now book Ola cabs or autos directly from the PhonePe app. The company claims that it is the first time that a platform has launched such a feature in the Indian market. Ola clarified that this marks the “first large-scale implementation of AutoPay” in India.
To get started, users need to select and then link their preferred Credit or Debit card with their PhonePe account on the PhonePe app. Once this is done then your fare from Ola Cabs will be automatically paid at the end of every ride. If users want to stop the Auto Pay feature then they need to head to their PhonePe app to turn it off meaning that you are not locked in for any specific amount of time.

PhonePe CTO and Co-founder, Rahul Chari welcomed the partnership by adding,” Ola is the largest smart mobility player in the market and we are delighted to partner with them. With this partnership, our users can enjoy the ease of using their preferred ride-sharing app from within PhonePe while being assured of the reliability and integrity of their payments.”
While Ankit Bhati, the Co-founder and CTO of Ola went on to add, “At Ola, we are focused on building products and services that enrich customer experience on our platform.” Bhati also pointed out, “Such partnerships drive the vision of Digital India, getting more users to experience the benefits of online services.”
One interesting thing to note here is that Ola has worked with PhonePe developers to create a smaller “micro-app” as part of the PhonePe app.
