OnePlus had earlier revealed that it had tweaked its invite system to make it better and more streamlined than before. The company says as much in its blog post, Invites are still a necessity, but we re striving to make the process as painless as possible thanks to more inventory, a reservation list, and a quicker rollout of shareable invites. The company says that in the first month, priority will be given to OnePlus most ardent of supporters. Our early and most fervent supporters will be prioritized, those of you who have helped us spread the word and grow OnePlus from an unknown company to where we are today, the company writes. We want to show you our gratitude by offering you some of the first invites to purchase the OnePlus 2.
For others, OnePlus will be distributing invites through various promotions and contests on the company s social media accounts, forums, and via newsletters.
To get an invite, you can either take part in ones of the aforementioned contests, or queue up in OnePlus new reservation system. This system essentially sees interested buyers queuing up for invites, and one only needs to enter their email id to join the queue. At the time of filing the story, there are nearly 160,000 users in line, including yours truly.
OnePlus says, This list will move on a first come first serve basis. Every day, we will evaluate our production and inventory situation to send out as many of these invites as possible. Everyone on the list will eventually receive an invite.
The company has also said that it will be disbursing shareable invites to OnePlus 2 buyers way sooner than what we were able to do in the past.
As mentioned above, OnePlus will be hosting a virtual reality event tomorrow where it will take the wraps off its latest flagship. The company sold its branded Cardboard VR headset on Amazon India, and over the weekend launched the Android app as well. It however also says that you don t necessarily need a VR headset to follow the launch event, but without it you will miss out on the entire experience.
OnePlus has already revealed quite a bit about its forthcoming flagship. The OnePlus 2 will be powered by an improved version of the Snapdragon 810 processor, feature 4GB of RAM, an USB Type C port, a fingerprint sensor, 3,300mAh battery, with faster LTE connectivity, and dual-SIM card slots. As for pricing, OnePlus has said that the flagship will cost between $320 and $450.
As far as rumors are concerned, the OnePlus 2 is said to feature a slimmer full-metal body, a 5.5-inch full HD display, and a combination of 13-megapixel rear camera with laser autofocus and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
