As for the overheating concerns, OnePlus says,
Although there have been reports that the 810 runs warmer than its predecessors, we assure you that we have taken all the necessary precautions and beyond to prevent this from occurring in the 2. We worked very closely with Qualcomm s engineers to integrate an improved version of the chipset (v2.1) in the OnePlus 2, and fine-tuned both hardware and software. The 2 will be cooler than ever .
Furthermore what seems like an extra layer of precaution, OnePlus has coated a layer of thermal gel and graphite on top of the processors across different areas of the phone. It says that the graphite ensures the heats from the processors dissipate evenly, and after rigorous testing, the 2 meets the industry standard for phone temperature, even with hours of use.
It does seem like OnePlus and Qualcomm are taking a lot of measures to overcome the overheating problem, while ensuring maximum performance. It would be interesting to see if the chipset is now able to shed its bad image after facing issues in some of the big smartphones including the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, HTC One M9, and the Sony Xperia Z3+ to name a few.
Announcing what powers the OnePlus 2 is not a one-off thing either, and OnePlus will be revealing what s inside the 2 piece by piece. From what we have heard so far, it could flaunt a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 1080 pixels) display, 3GB of RAM, Adreno 430 GPU, 16-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, and on the software front, Android 5.1 Lollipop (wrapped under Oxygen OS in India/Hydrogen OS in China) out-of-the-box.
Reports generating out of China claim that the OnePlus 2 could be launched as early as next month. These also claim that the flagship But what s more interesting is the publication also claims that OnePlus 2 prices will start from 1,999 Yuan (Rs 20,644), which is less than what the OnePlus One was launched at.
