OnePlus is now rolling out Oxygen 4.1.7 update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users. The update addresses the much-requested touch latency issue on the two smartphones, which users have been incessantly complaining about. Alongside, the update also introduced new bug fixes and Android security patch for the month of August. According to the change log, the Oxygen OS 4.1.7 update primarily enhances system fluidity along with battery optimizations and security updates. This reportedly created some confusion on whether the update features touch latency improvement or not. However, OnePlus CEO Carl Pei cleared the air via his official Twitter handle. “Saw some confusion about this: OxygenOS 4.1.7 for 3/3T does indeed come with touch latency improvements,” he tweeted. In addition to the improvement, the latest update package brings bug fixes for sound channel error in video recording and a rendering issue in Kannada language. As it was observed earlier that an app launcher installed from Play Store might be instrumental in easily bypassing the native OxygenOS app lockers. OnePlus made sure to address the issue with a bug fix for the App Locker third-party app issue in the latest rollout. As directed by Google, the Oxygen OS update will remove the Hangout app if you never updated the app from the Play Store. To continue using the Hangout app even after the new OS is patched, it is mandatory for users to update the app before hand. OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T users will be notified via push notification about the OTA update. In case you wish to check for updates manually then go to Settings -> System Update. It is recommended that you keep your smartphone’s battery charged over 50 percent prior to installing the upgrades.
